
FOR SALE BY OWNER
The makers of
“For Sale by Owner” have announced their cast. Kris Kristofferson, Tom Skerritt, Rachel Nichols (“Alias”), Frankie Faison (“The Wire”), Skeet Ulrich (“Jericho”),
Scott Cooper (“Broken Trail”), Forrest Sawyer and James Keane will star. The cast also features Natchitoches resident Joanna Cassidy and Louisiana musician Mark Adam.
The movie will begin shooting April 17 at the Magnolia Plantation near Natchitoches. It is being produced by the Robert Duvall’s Butcher’s Run Films and Shreveport-based
Port Pictures. The movie will be directed by Bob Wilson. He worked as a line producer on “The Year Without a Santa Claus,” which was also shot in Natchitoches.
It is the first project for Port Pictures. Rudy Hines, an executive producer with the company, is thrilled about his stars. “We feel like we got a $10 million cast,”
Hines said. “The script is just unbelievable. It’s a mystery-thriller. Everybody’s so excited about this.”
MOMMA
"Momma" is a New
Orleans-based drama following French Quarter prostitution which Joanna is producing from Picture Show Entertainment. "Momma" depicts 40 years of sex, murder and madness in Sin City, South. The New Orleans'
District Attorney is determined to bring justice to an infamous, old murder case: the King of the Krewe's 1920 death. He struggles to separate fact from fiction as
Momma's re-telling brings revelations that forever change 'the quarter.' Check back for more details.
ANDERSON'S CROSS
This film is a coming of
age story set in a small town where three friends must battle outside forces in their school and community during their last year of high school. The film also
stars Bil Moseley, Samm Levine and Scott Gerard (who also serves as executive producer), and had its world premiere at the Independent Film Festival in Atlanta, GA on
March 15, 2007. There are plans for the film to also be screened at the Atlanta Film Festival in April, 2007. Check back for more details.
KISS THE BRIDE
Joanna has finished filming this independent film, also starring Tori Spelling, Tess Harper, Phillip Karner and James O'Shea. Directed by C. Jay Cox, from Here Films, based on a script by Ty Lieberman, it is scheduled for a November 2007 release in theaters and on !here Networks.
Synopsis: Matt (Philipp Karner), a magazine executive, is in the midst of producing a big gay wedding issue when he learns that his high school sweetheart, Ryan (James O'Shea), is about to get hitched to bodacious Alex (Tori Spelling). It's been 10 years since he fled his hometown, but Matt returns to rescue Ryan from making a dire mistake. He arrives during Alex's bachelorette party, is mistaken for a stripper and the fun begins! Matt's attempts to rekindle his old flame with Ryan, while striking up a close friendship with Alex, prove a comic goldmine. As the wedding day approaches, the past collides with the present, unearthing a host of secrets that ultimately leads each character to discover what's right and true for him, for her - and for them.
Outfest Screenwriting Lab honors an original project,
Ty Lieberman’s romantic comedy, Kiss the Bride, which marks the first time that an original project of the Outfest screenwriting lab, a program
designed to nurture outstanding LGBT-themed screenplays and emerging screenwriters, has been produced. The film stars Tori Spelling and Joanna
Cassidy and is directed by C. Jay Cox, produced by Shadow Factory and executive produced by here! Films. It closed this year's film
festival with a world-premiere screening and reception. Outfest, the nation’s leading
LGBTQ film festival and the oldest continuously running film festival in Los Angeles, it celebrated its 25th anniversary from July 12-23rd, 2007.

58th EMMY NOMINATIONS
Joanna was nominated for an Emmy for Guest Actress in a Drama Series for her role as Margaret Chenowith in HBO's SIX FEET UNDER. Here's what Joanna has to say about the nomination: "I'll cut to the chase: I deserved it, I feel like I'm floating on air. We all just put in such hard work, and the show is so incredible in so many different ways, from the writing and style, and the people are just amazing. It does kind of wrap it up for me. I'm going to go for a swim - naked - and I'm going to, in every private moment, leap around and hug myself. I'm planning on having a beautiful day."

THE GRUDGE TWO

Joanna filmed THE GRUDGE TWO in Tokyo, Japan. The feature film also stars Sarah Michelle Gellar, Amber Tamlyn and Jennifer Beals. Synopsis: From Sam Raimi and Columbia Pictures comes the eerie thriller The Grudge 2, which explores the dark secrets behind the revenge-seeking grudge's wrath as the terrifying supernatural curse is unleashed on a group of seemingly unrelated victims, moving out of the burned-out house and spreading everywhere. The much-anticipated sequel to the 2004 hit The Grudge, which earned over $188 million in worldwide box office receipts, stars Amber Tamblyn, with Sarah Michelle Gellar returning briefly in the memorable role of Karen, once again under the direction of Takashi Shimizu, from a screenplay written by Stephen Susco. The producers are Sam Raimi, Rob Tapert and Taka Ichise.

The Grudge 2 carries the infectious, vengeful curse forward as it attacks a
group of seemingly unrelated individuals:
Aubrey Davis (AMBER TAMBLYN) discovers from her bed-ridden mother, Mrs. Davis
(JOANNA CASSIDY), that her sister Karen is in a hospital in Japan. She also
finds out that Karen is under investigation for the death of her boyfriend in a
fire she started in a house located in Tokyo. Since Mrs. Davis is too ill to
make the trip, she asks Aubrey to go to Tokyo and bring her sister home.
Shortly after she arrives in Tokyo, reporter and photographer, Eason seeks out
Aubrey to warn her that her sister, Karen, is in the thrall of something unseen
and dangerous. Allison attends an international school in Tokyo.
Desperately trying to fit in with the school's “in” crowd, Vanessa and
Miyuki, she is willing to do anything they ask to get in good with them - even
if it means going into a mysterious burned-down house, which was the site of
several unexplained murders and strange disappearances. The young
introverted Jake isn't happy that his widowed father Bill is engaged to Trish.
Still mourning the death of his mother, he cannot understand why his older
sister Lacey gets on so well with their soon-to-be stepmother. He also doesn't
understand why one of his next-door neighbors is being so elusive. It seems that
everyone in his apartment building is acting stranger and stranger. One by
one, they are infected by the malevolent curse known as “The Grudge,” which
is quickly moving out of the burned-down house in Tokyo and spreading to
everyone who crosses its path.
Japanese actress Takako Fuji reprises her role as the terrorizing Kayako, Ryo
Ishibashi returns in a cameo as Detective Nakagawa and nine-year-old Ohga Tanaka
takes on the role of the tortured Toshio. Edison Chen (Infernal Affairs),
Arielle Kebbel (Aquamarine), Teresa Palmer (December Boys), Sarah Roemer
(upcoming Disturbia), Jenna Dewan (Take the Lead), Matthew Knight (The Greatest
Game Ever Played), Christopher Cousins (Wicker Park), Jennifer Beals (“The L
Word”) and Joanna Cassidy (“Six Feet Under”) make up the rest of the
ensemble cast.

BLADE RUNNER: THE FINAL CUT

In honor of its 25th anniversary, Ridley
Scott will be offering up BLADE RUNNER: THE FINAL CUT, first launching theatrically Oct. 5 in L.A. and New York and then debuting Dec. 18 on DVD, Blu-ray and HD
DVD.
The limited theatrical run of the NEW DVD version began Oct. 5 in New York and Los Angeles. Engagements expanded Oct. 26 in Seattle; Washington, D.C.; Portland, OR; and Salt Lake City. The film opens Nov. 5 in Chicago; Santa Barbara, CA; and Baltimore, with more cities to follow. The cast and filmmakers attended a red carpet screening of the film Dec. 9 at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles as part of the Jules Verne Adventura Film Festival, which honored director Ridley Scott and his crew with an award for the film's restoration.
Scott has gone back into post-production to create the long-awaited, definitive version of this post-apocalyptic, dystopian vision of L.A., digitally
restored and re-mastered from original elements and scanned at 4K resolution. The final cut of BLADE RUNNER will contain never-before-seen added/extended
scenes, added lines, new and improved vfx, director and filmmaker commentary, an all-new 5.1 Dolby Digital audio track and more. Simultaneous HD DVD and Blu-Ray versions (each $TBD) of the Deckard Briefcase will also be released in numbered, limited quantities. HD DVD and Blu-Ray 5-Disc
